I am a composer, musicologist and writer based in Scotland. As a composer I mostly write instrumental music for soloists and ensembles, with a particular interest in the string quartet as a genre. I have also worked with actors to create large scale work for music and the spoken word. As an academic writer I have had articles published nationally and internationally. My areas of interest in musicology concern women composers, autoethnography, and analysis. As a creative writer I write poetry and life story.

I was twice a prizewinner at the Yorkshire Arts Association Young Composers’ Competition at the Huddersfield Festival and I have had recent commissions from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Sound Scotland and Glasgow New Music Expedition. I have recently completed a PhD in composition and musicology at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, where I also teach research skills and supervise research projects. I'm an active member of Women In Music.

I also study mathematics, I'm an amateur botanist, and I'm interested in ecology and nature conservation.
